SIGNS OF PROTEST

ANTI-WAR ACTIVISM IN
CAPE TOWN

In response to the United States military invasion of Iraq on March 15, 2003, organizers from around the globe mounted protests on an unprecedented scale and scope. The message was clear: President Bush did not have the world's support. This exhibition visually documents a series of peaceful demonstrations that took place in Cape Town, South Africa between March and July 2003. Taken by South African photographers Farzanah Badsha and Natasha Becker, the following images attest to the heterogeneity of participants and the multitude of predominantly anti-war messages.
